Project Manager – BMZ

About the role

The position supports the implementation of humanitarian and development programmes funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in South Sudan. You will ensure that work plans, budgets and donor requirements are met while coordinating with the South Sudan NGO Forum and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Implement work plans and budgets, adjusting as needed to meet project objectives.
• Coordinate with the NGO Forum and submit regular project reports to the donor through WVG.
• Distribute approved programme designs, logframes, M&E plans and grant agreements to staff and ensure understanding of donor regulations.
• Conduct supportive supervision visits to project sites to monitor efficient implementation.
• Lead coordination between country programmes, facilitate information sharing, joint planning and problem solving.
• Represent the organisation with local authorities, government ministries, community leaders and donors, primarily in South Sudan.
• Participate in coordination meetings with stakeholders, providing updates on project progress and outcomes.
• Facilitate collaboration with other German‑funded recovery projects linked through the “Chapeau” strategy.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a humanitarian or development‑related field.
• 3–5 years of experience managing large, integrated projects in fragile contexts.
• Proven ability to interpret and apply donor regulations, preferably with BMZ, GFFO, GAC, World Bank or FCDO.
• Experience living and working in hardship conditions; familiarity with South Sudan is an advantage.
• Strong verbal communication, presentation and report‑writing skills.
• Ability to achieve results through partners and lead diverse, multi‑sectoral teams.

Required skills

• Technical expertise in Food Security and Livelihoods.
• Knowledge of donor regulations and reporting requirements (BMZ, GFFO, GAC, WB, FCDO).
