Programme Coordinator – Protection

About the role

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and direct supervision of the Emergency Coordinator, the Programme Coordinator (Protection) will lead the management, implementation, coordination and monitoring of IOM’s protection, mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) and migrant protection and resettlement programmes in South Sudan.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, implement and monitor protection and MHPSS projects in displacement sites, transit centres and return areas.
• Coordinate activities with government, UN agencies, NGOs and other partners to ensure a rights‑based approach.
• Prepare project reports, monitoring data and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical support for core protection and MHPSS interventions, including needs assessments and response planning.
• Ensure compliance with IOM policies, donor requirements and safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in protection, humanitarian assistance or MHPSS programmes.
• Knowledge of migration, internally displaced persons and returnee contexts.
• Ability to work in protracted displacement and emergency settings.
• Eligibility as a first‑tier candidate (internal or from non‑represented IOM Member States) is preferred.
