Chief of Party, Emergency Response, Upper Nile & Unity State

About the role

The Chief of Party will lead Samaritans Purse’s emergency food assistance program in Upper Nile and Unity State, South Sudan. This senior position combines program management, donor compliance, and field coordination to deliver humanitarian aid in line with the organization’s faith‑based mission.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and oversee the Food Assistance program, ensuring goals are met within budget and timelines.
• Ensure all activities comply with international standards, Samaritans Purse policies, and donor regulations.
• Manage the grant budget, produce accurate financial reports for donors and headquarters.
• Engage with government authorities, UN agencies, other NGOs, and local partners to coordinate project objectives.
• Conduct regular field visits to support staff, address challenges, and explore future program opportunities.
• Supervise 5‑10 non‑supervisory staff and 2 supervisory staff, handling recruitment, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions.
• Perform any additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Required profile

• Demonstrated commitment to Samaritans Purse’s Statement of Faith and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Proven experience managing large‑scale humanitarian food assistance projects.
• Strong knowledge of donor compliance, budgeting, and financial reporting.
• Ability to build effective relationships with government, UN, and humanitarian partners.
• Leadership experience supervising diverse teams in challenging environments.
