Shelter Coordinator - Ulang, South Sudan

About the role

NRC South Sudan is recruiting a Shelter Coordinator for its project in Ulang, Upper Nile, which supports displaced South Sudanese people. The post reports to the Field Manager, covers 100% of travel within project locations, runs for 6 months and supervises two staff members.

Key responsibilities

• Implement shelter projects in Ulang and supervise the NRC shelter project staff there, including planning and implementation of interventions
• Develop community shelter designs, BOQs and tender documents, and help build quantitative and qualitative indicators for shelter construction
• Supervise shelter construction with the contractor and check quantities and quality of work
• Contribute to proposals and budgets, and represent the project in coordination forums and working groups
• Oversee recruitment of shelter staff, capacity building and transfer of key skills
• Help the Programme Development Manager set beneficiary selection criteria, SOPs and M&E plans, and develop project budgets
• Liaise with local authorities, NGOs and other stakeholders, and represent NRC at county coordination and security meetings
• Monitor the shelter programme budget, approve PRs/POS and track field purchase requests

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or equivalent is an advantage
• At least four years of experience with an NGO, including technical and staff supervision
• Experience in a volatile context and in the South Sudan emergency response context is an advantage
• Fluency in English and Arabic, written and spoken
