WASH Assistant – Emergency Operations in Uror

About the role

The WASH Assistant will provide technical guidance and supervision for emergency water, sanitation and hygiene infrastructure in Uror County, ensuring safe drinking water and proper sanitation for displaced communities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct rapid WASH needs assessments, KAP surveys and baseline data collection.
• Supervise construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of emergency sanitation facilities and water supply points, ensuring compliance with BoQs and SPHERE standards.
• Facilitate community engagement, train volunteers and coordinate hygiene promotion activities in schools and health centres.
• Coordinate material deliveries, procurement and logistics with the supply chain team, and maintain relationships with local leaders and partners.
• Track daily progress, compile weekly/monthly reports and maintain beneficiary and distribution records.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Public Health or related field.
• 1‑2 years of hands‑on experience in humanitarian emergency WASH projects.
• Strong knowledge of emergency protocols, water quality testing and SPHERE minimum standards.
• Fluent in English and local languages, with good interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Technical drafting and reading of engineering designs, BoQs.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Familiarity with mapping/design tools such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS and GPS.
• Ability to work independently under pressure in volatile environments.
