Shelter & Settlement Officer (Humanitarian)

About the role

The Shelter & Settlement Officer will lead the implementation of shelter, site and settlement activities in Nyirol, Jonglei State. Reporting to the WASH & Shelter Coordinator, the role involves coordinating construction, distribution of kits, and community engagement in a high‑mobility emergency environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the Shelter & Settlement Assistant, incentive workers, casual labourers and community shelter committees.
• Plan, implement and monitor shelter construction, repair and distribution of shelter kits and non‑food items (NFIs) in line with NRC standards.
• Prepare weekly reports, update work plans and ensure activities align with the project budget and log‑frame.
• Represent NRC in SLSC Cluster meetings, land and site coordination forums and other stakeholder gatherings.
• Support site planning, settlement layout, flood‑resilient designs and coordination with logistics for material procurement.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian shelter programmes, construction supervision or related field work.
• Ability to work in remote, high‑mobility settings and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills, including preparation of BoQs, technical specifications and progress reports.
