Accountant - Financial Services

About the role

Career Directions Limited (CDL) is hiring a full-time Accountant for its Finance department in Juba, South Sudan. The post reports to the Management Accountant and aims to keep financial records accurate and up to date, run reconciliations, review accounting entries, support month-end closing and ensure compliance with financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily bank, cash, vault and other account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
• Conduct inter-company reconciliations and keep supporting schedules accurate
• Review and approve journal entries within delegated authority
• Maintain the General Ledger and accounting records in QuickBooks or a similar system
• Review and clear aged, unusual or unsupported balance sheet items
• Support monthly and year-end close and prepare management reports
• Maintain proper documentation and comply with internal controls
• Support internal and external audits and respond to audit queries
• Identify accounting issues, recommend solutions and escalate unresolved matters

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• CPA, ACCA or equivalent qualification; member of a professional body
• At least 3-5 years of accounting experience in financial services, banking, money transfer, foreign exchange or microfinance
• Experience with multiple entities or currencies and in cash-intensive or remittance environments
• Valid Kenyan passport

Required skills

• Strong accounting and reconciliation skills, including bank, inter-company and balance sheet reconciliations
• Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar systems
• Good understanding of double-entry accounting
• Strong Excel skills
