About the role
The World Food Programme is seeking a senior professional to lead gender, protection and inclusion (GPI) mainstreaming within its programme portfolio in South Sudan. Based in Juba, the Programme Policy Officer will guide the development, implementation and monitoring of GPI policies, ensuring they are integrated across all humanitarian operations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for gender, protection and inclusion across WFP programmes in South Sudan.
- Develop, review and update GPI policies, guidelines and tools in line with WFP standards and the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan.
- Coordinate with UN agencies, NGOs and government partners to align GPI interventions and promote joint monitoring.
- Lead capacity‑building activities for staff and partners on gender‑sensitive programming, protection risk assessment and inclusive approaches.
- Oversee data collection, analysis and reporting on GPI indicators, ensuring compliance with donor and internal reporting requirements.
- Advise senior management on GPI risks, opportunities and integration strategies.
Required profile
- Advanced university degree in gender studies, social sciences, international development or related field.
- Extensive experience in humanitarian programmes with a focus on gender, protection and inclusion.
- Proven track record of policy development, stakeholder coordination and results‑based monitoring.
- Strong understanding of the South Sudan context, including the R‑ARCSS framework.
