Project Manager – Infrastructure

About the role

The Project Manager (Infrastructure) will lead the delivery of critical infrastructure projects across South Sudan, supporting UNOPS’s mission to improve access to essential services and promote sustainable development. This role coordinates design, construction, and rehabilitation activities in sectors such as education, health, transport, irrigation, and ports.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and update the project implementation plan, establishing milestones and tolerances.
• Implement the approved plan, overseeing infrastructure design, design reviews, and integration of sustainability dimensions (social, gender, environmental, economic).
• Manage production of outputs, monitor progress, control variances, and initiate corrective actions as needed.
• Ensure quality of work packages and deliverables meets defined standards.
• Liaise with external suppliers and account managers to guarantee timely, quality delivery.
• Oversee acceptance and hand‑over of work packages.
• Identify, assess, and advise on project risks, proposing mitigation measures.
• Report potential opportunities for UNOPS to the supervisor.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing infrastructure projects, preferably in multi‑sector environments.
• Ability to coordinate with donors, partners, and beneficiaries while adhering to contractual commitments and UNOPS performance standards.
• Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and quality assurance.
