Civil/Structural Engineer – International Consultant (CST II)

About the role

The World Food Programme is looking for a qualified Civil and/or Structural Engineer to join its Engineering Unit in Juba, South Sudan. This is an 11‑month International Consultant (CST‑II) contract supporting the design, construction and maintenance of critical infrastructure that enables humanitarian operations in a highly challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review and approve civil and structural works for roads, warehouses, water points and other WFP facilities.
• Supervise construction activities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards and local regulations.
• Conduct site inspections, assess structural integrity and recommend remedial actions.
• Coordinate with logistics, procurement and project teams to align engineering solutions with operational needs.
• Prepare technical reports, progress updates and documentation for donors and stakeholders.

Required profile

• University degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience delivering infrastructure projects in insecure or remote settings.
• Ability to work under pressure, adapt to seasonal constraints and travel to field sites.
• Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of local context is an advantage.
