Zonal Program Manager

About the role

The Zonal Program Manager will ensure operational effectiveness across a multi‑sector portfolio, delivering programmes on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards while safeguarding staff and assets.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of programmes, ensuring timely delivery, budget compliance and high‑quality reporting.
• Support field offices in building relationships with donors, governments, UN agencies, NGOs and other humanitarian actors.
• Oversee financial, asset and fleet management to facilitate project implementation.
• Lead security and risk mitigation measures, ensuring staff have necessary tools, safe housing and transport.
• Develop and implement an external engagement framework and represent the organization at state‑level coordination platforms.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, audit recommendations and donor requirements.
• Drive staff recruitment, retention, capacity building and succession planning.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in International Development, Humanitarian Emergencies, NGO leadership or related field.
• At least 10 years of relief and development experience, with 5 years in senior management of complex emergencies.
• Proven ability to manage large, diverse programme portfolios with multiple donors.
• Familiarity with EU, USAID, DFID, DFAT and UN grant compliance.
• Strong leadership, decision‑making, problem‑solving and negotiation skills.
• Experience in staff security and safety management in insecure environments.
