RMEAL Officer – PlayMatters Initiative

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Research, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (RMEAL) Officer to lead the PlayMatters 3.0 initiative in South Sudan. This multi‑year programme, funded by the LEGO Foundation, aims to strengthen education systems and expand inclusive, play‑based learning for children affected by crisis.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning frameworks for PlayMatters 3.0.
• Collect, analyse, and report data on programme performance, impact, and learning outcomes.
• Coordinate with consortium partners (War Child Alliance, Plan International) and national/sub‑national education actors.
• Support system‑strengthening activities that embed learning‑through‑play approaches into education policies and practices.
• Produce regular technical reports, dashboards, and evidence‑based recommendations for programme improvement.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in RMEAL functions within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong understanding of education programmes, especially play‑based learning.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and government stakeholders.
• Commitment to the IRC mission and to serving vulnerable populations in South Sudan.
