Protection From Violence Coordinator - Unity Area Office

About the role

NRC South Sudan is recruiting a Protection Coordinator for the Unity Area Office in Rubkona, South Sudan. The post reports to the Field Manager, supervises Protection Officers and covers 80% travel. It is a 6-month contract and focuses on leading and overseeing protection from violence programming, including its planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.

Key responsibilities

• Line manage protection from violence project field staff and give them technical guidance so activities meet donor requirements
• Manage and implement delegated projects, including budgets, procurement and documentation, and produce monthly progress reports
• Coordinate with local authorities, government entities, UN agencies and NGOs, and represent NRC in protection cluster and sub-cluster coordination
• Advocate for the rights of IDPs and returnees and promote protection programming aligned with prevention of violence and coercion
• Organize regular field visits, build staff capacity and contribute to proposals for follow-up or expanded funding
• Create implementation, spending and procurement plans and support project work plans, M&E and recruitment plans

Required profile

• University degree in social science, law, political science or a related subject
• At least three years' experience in project management, including staff supervision and compliance with policies
• Significant experience in monitoring, evaluation and reporting
• Prior experience representing an NGO and advocating for beneficiaries in public forums such as the Protection Cluster
• Experience in a protection position in a humanitarian or recovery context, including technical training

Required skills

• Fluent written and spoken English, and Arabic or Kurdish
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Strong communication, analytical and negotiation skills, and ability to work independently
