ICLA Officer – Information, Counselling & Legal Assistance

About the role

The ICLA Officer will implement information, counselling and legal assistance activities for vulnerable populations in Rubkona (Bentui), South Sudan. The role involves providing confidential support, conducting assessments, and facilitating community sensitisation on land, water and service‑related disputes.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver information, counselling and legal assistance to NRC beneficiaries in line with project sub‑components.
• Conduct regular assessments and monitoring in IDP, refugee, returnee and host communities, ensuring accurate documentation and confidentiality.
• Plan, implement and evaluate community sensitisation campaigns, legal assistance sessions and collaborative dispute‑resolution trainings.
• Prepare periodic progress reports, status updates and other required documentation.
• Coordinate with partners, ensure timely procurement and distribution of materials, and support team training and development.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognised university.
• Experience delivering legal aid or access‑to‑justice services in humanitarian or recovery contexts.
• Proven ability to work in complex, volatile environments.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of Arabic or local languages is an advantage.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office applications.
• Strong report‑writing abilities.
