Anesthetist – Clinical Role in Kuajok Hospital

About the role

The Anesthetist will provide anaesthetic care to patients in the operating theatre and critical care units at Kuajok State Hospital, supporting surgical teams, mentoring junior staff and contributing to programme monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all anaesthetic drugs and equipment used in theatre, maternity and other hospital departments.
• Conduct pre‑operative assessment of elective surgical patients in collaboration with the General Surgeon.
• Inform patients about the proposed anaesthesia procedure, obtain consent and manage anaesthesia and resuscitation during surgery.
• Perform minor procedures such as incision and drainage of abscesses and primary suturing of wounds.
• Provide on‑the‑job and theoretical training to surgical nurses and midwives on emergency services.
• Assist in post‑operative follow‑up, health education sessions and drug consumption reporting.
• Prepare monthly consumption reports and support ordering of essential medicines and consumables.
• Collect and present monthly and quarterly data on theatre performance and document human‑interest stories.

Required profile

• Diploma (3‑year) in Anaesthesia from a recognised higher institution.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an anaesthetist in a busy hospital.
• South Sudanese nationality.
