Supply Chain Management Specialist (Fleet, Logistics & Assets)

About the role

The Supply Chain Management Specialist (Fleet, Logistics and Assets Management) supports UNMAS operations by ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost‑effective deployment of vehicles and related assets. Reporting to the Support Service Manager, the role contributes to the overall efficiency of mine‑action programmes and offers opportunities for professional growth within UNOPS.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement fleet optimisation and asset‑lifecycle strategies aligned with programme delivery.
• Advise senior management on cost‑efficiency, risk, and sustainability of fleet and assets.
• Design and oversee preventive maintenance systems, annual maintenance plans and servicing schedules.
• Maintain electronic records, quality controls, policies and procedures for fleet inspection, repair, accident reporting, registration and insurance.
• Monitor vehicle usage, fuel‑card controls and fuel consumption.
• Manage spare‑parts inventory and coordinate with procurement to ensure optimal stock levels.
• Oversee workshop administration, labour allocation, job scheduling and supervise mechanics.
• Ensure workshop infrastructure meets HSSE standards and conduct quarterly risk assessments.
• Provide technical advice to the procurement unit on fleet‑related matters.

Required profile

• Proven experience in fleet, logistics or asset management within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance planning and workshop supervision.
• Familiarity with UNOPS rules, HSSE standards and procurement processes.
• Ability to analyse cost‑efficiency, risk and sustainability factors for vehicle fleets.
