Education Officer – Akobo, South Sudan

About the role

The Education Officer will lead the day‑to‑day implementation of NRC's education project in Akobo, South Sudan. Reporting to the Education Team Leader, you will supervise Education Assistants, coordinate with local authorities and ensure that project activities are delivered on time and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Implement education activities under the direction of the Education Project Team Leader.
• Supervise and support Education Assistants to meet program objectives.
• Develop and maintain electronic and paper filing systems.
• Oversee school‑level education needs assessments and update work plans and log‑frames.
• Organise and facilitate teacher training, training of trainers and other capacity‑building sessions on pedagogy, curriculum, child protection, psychosocial support and relevant software applications.
• Document technical issues and channel them to the Education Project Coordinator.
• Participate in project assessments, data collection and analysis.
• Monitor project spending, purchase requests and coordinate with logistics and field teams.
• Travel regularly to field sites to monitor education, recreation and training activities.
• Oversee procurement and distribution of training materials and provide input on school needs.
• Maintain positive relationships with teachers, headmasters and community education representatives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in implementing education projects in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to supervise staff and make decisions with limited supervision.
• Willingness to travel regularly to remote field locations.
• Strong collaboration skills with local authorities and community stakeholders.
