WASH Officer – Climate Resilience Project

About the role

The WASH Officer will support the BRACE Programme in South Sudan, a climate‑resilience initiative for the education sector. Working under the National WASH Specialist and reporting to the Construction Engineer Manager, the officer will ensure high‑quality water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) infrastructure across schools, health centres and communities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct WASH needs assessments to inform programme design.
• Develop Bills of Quantities (BOQ), tender documents and specifications for WASH infrastructure works.
• Manage WASH contracts, monitor construction quality and provide technical guidance on government‑approved designs.
• Lead implementation of WASH facilities in schools, health and nutrition centres, and community settings.
• Coordinate with the Consortium Manager, WASH/Hygiene Assistant, Infrastructure Engineer and other thematic teams.
• Oversee WASH awareness activities and ensure compliance with safety and monitoring standards.

Required profile

• Experience in WASH infrastructure design, construction supervision and contract management.
• Ability to work under the direction of senior WASH specialists and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical skills for needs assessments and technical reporting.
