Shelter Coordinator – Ulang, South Sudan

About the role

The Shelter Coordinator will ensure smooth implementation of shelter projects for displaced South Sudanese in Ulang, Upper Nile. Reporting to the Field Manager, the role involves supervising staff, managing construction activities, and coordinating with stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise NRC shelter project staff and contractors, ensuring quality and timely construction.
• Develop community shelter designs, BOQs, tender documents and related technical specifications.
• Prepare project budgets, monitor expenditures, and approve purchase requests.
• Represent the shelter project in coordination forums, working groups and meetings with donors, UN agencies and local authorities.
• Support recruitment, capacity building and knowledge transfer for the shelter team.
• Contribute to proposal writing, M&E plan development and beneficiary selection criteria.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field.
• At least four years of experience with an NGO in technical supervision of shelter construction.
• Experience working in volatile or humanitarian contexts, preferably South Sudan.
• Fluency in English and Arabic (both written and verbal).
