Protection and Advocacy Coordinator

About the role

World Vision South Sudan is seeking a Protection and Advocacy Coordinator to lead the development and implementation of national child protection and advocacy strategies. The role will integrate protection priorities across programmes and support staff in delivering a safeguarding and inclusive culture.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement child, humanitarian and policy advocacy strategies.
• Coordinate WV South Sudan’s national advocacy strategy and plans.
• Ensure advocacy priorities are integrated into existing and pipeline programmes.
• Develop policy positions on child hunger, malnutrition and violence against children.
• Lead research, advocacy and policy brief development.
• Oversee implementation of Child Protection, Participation and GEDSI policies.
• Provide senior leadership with messages and resources to foster protection and inclusion.
• Co‑create and monitor an integrated child protection, participation and inclusion action plan.
• Support the FY26‑30 FO strategy implementation for the objective “Children protected from violence and exploitation”.
• Deliver advocacy capacity building through the Advocacy Academy.
• Embed child protection standards in all programmes and operational processes.
• Promote compliance with safeguarding and mandatory reporting procedures.
• Facilitate meaningful child participation in programme design, monitoring and evaluation.
• Strengthen accountability mechanisms and support child representation in the East Africa Child Advisory Group.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in child protection and advocacy.
• Ability to coordinate across functional, technical and zonal teams.
• Knowledge of GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion) policies.
• Experience developing policy positions and producing research or policy briefs.
• Capacity to support senior leadership in building a safeguarding and inclusive culture.
