Protection from Violence Officer - Rubkona

About the role

NRC South Sudan is recruiting a Protection from Violence (PfV) Officer for Rubkona, Unity State, on a 4-month national contract (1 December 2026 to 31 March 2027). The officer implements protection activities across project sites, provides confidential protection services to beneficiaries, and spends about half the time travelling to deliver mobile services. The post reports to the Protection from Violence Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the delegated Protection from Violence portfolio (Individual Response Services, Civilian Self-Protection, Thought Leadership and Influence) through fixed sites and mobile modalities, following Safe and Inclusive Programming principles.
• Lead protection from violence assessments, including household assessments, focus group discussions and key informant interviews, and identify hot spots and risks.
• Carry out protection monitoring, analysis and advocacy, map actors and services and develop referral pathways.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues in direct service provision and collaborate with the PfV Coordinator and PfV PDM on internal and donor reports.
• Prepare status reports, ensure proper filing of documents, and promote ideas for technical improvement.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Social Sciences or a related field.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in protection programming in a displacement settlement.
• Experience with host communities, IDPs and returnees, and in remote environments.
• Fluency in written and spoken English; understanding of Nuer is an added advantage.
• Previous experience in a humanitarian or recovery context and documented results in the role's responsibilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; computer literacy.
• Data collection and reporting skills.
• Understanding of rights and protection issues of displaced populations (an advantage).
