MEAL Officer – Monitoring & Evaluation

About the role

The MEAL Officer, reporting to the MEAL Manager, will support the implementation of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning activities for programmes in Ayod County. The role ensures programme quality, accountability and evidence‑based decision‑making through data collection, analysis and community feedback mechanisms.

Key responsibilities

• Implement project MEAL plans, monitoring frameworks and indicator tracking systems, including beneficiary registration verification and post‑distribution monitoring.
• Conduct routine field visits, verification exercises and data quality checks, ensuring tools and methodologies are consistently applied.
• Support community feedback mechanisms, record and refer complaints, and share findings with programme teams to drive improvements.
• Compile, analyse and summarise monitoring findings, lessons learned and good practices, and contribute to MEAL reports, dashboards and learning products.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to programme staff on MEAL tools, data collection, protection and data‑protection standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Social Sciences, Public Health, International Development or a related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience in MEAL within humanitarian or development programmes, preferably with INGOs or NGOs.
• Experience supporting monitoring activities, assessments, surveys and data quality assurance.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Digital data‑collection platforms: KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare.
• Data management and analysis tools: Microsoft Excel, Power BI, ArcGIS.
• Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Office 365) for reporting and presentations.
• Strong analytical skills for data cleaning, validation and reporting.
