Head of Programmes – South Sudan

About the role

The Head of Programmes will join IsraAID’s senior leadership team in South Sudan, reporting to the Country Director. The role is responsible for the overall design, implementation and monitoring of protection, health and WASH programmes, ensuring they are evidence‑based, impact‑oriented and aligned with the organisation’s global strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the full programme cycle – from needs assessment and proposal development to implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• Supervise and mentor the country programme team, providing technical guidance on health, protection and WASH interventions.
• Oversee budget planning, financial tracking and ensure donor reports are accurate and submitted on time.
• Develop and update the country strategic plan in collaboration with the Country Director and technical specialists.
• Identify gaps in expertise, coordinate recruitment of specialised staff and ensure appropriate capacity building.
• Adapt and apply programme management tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness of all projects.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience managing multi‑sector humanitarian programmes in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven ability to lead diverse teams and deliver results under tight deadlines.
• Strong understanding of protection, health and WASH sector standards and best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
