About the role
Save the Children is seeking a Construction Engineer/Manager to lead the design, procurement, supervision and reporting of school and community building projects in South Sudan. The role combines technical construction expertise with strong resource management to ensure projects meet quality, safety and humanitarian standards.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee all functional aspects of construction, from design and procurement to on‑site supervision and final reporting.
- Manage material and financial resources in line with grant‑management guidelines and collaborate closely with Programme Managers, Finance and Supply Chain teams.
- Conduct feasibility and environmental assessments for new infrastructure projects.
- Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, UN agencies and other external partners.
- Adapt working hours and duties during major humanitarian emergencies.
Required profile
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction engineering or project management, preferably in humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
- Demonstrated ability to work in challenging, remote environments.
- Level 3 child safeguarding clearance, as the role involves regular contact with children.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in civil engineering, construction management or a related field.
