Shelter Officer - Ulang (2 Positions)

About the role

NRC South Sudan is recruiting two Shelter Officers for its CC Project in Ulang, Upper Nile, on a 6-month contract. The officer implements the project day to day under the Shelter Coordinator and supervises casual workers.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines, and implement the delegated CC project portfolio according to the plan of action.
• Prepare status reports, maintain proper document filing and develop a work plan and schedule for activity monitoring with the line manager.
• Manage shelter activities and report progress in Renk, including design of activities, BoQs and monitoring of construction or rehabilitation in line with government regulations and standards.
• Coordinate with the M&E officer on tracking outcomes, outputs and targets, baselines and evaluations.
• Support beneficiary selection according to agreed criteria and supervise assistants.
• Complete administrative and logistical tasks promptly, represent NRC in community, local and state meetings when requested, and carry out other duties assigned by the Shelter Coordinator.

Required profile

• At least 3 years of proven practical experience planning and executing shelter programmes in a humanitarian and development context.
• Bachelor's degree from a recognised university (Civil Engineering or similar).
• Experience in complex and volatile contexts, in capacity building and training, and in working in Upper Nile.
• Ability to work independently in a multi-tasking, multicultural environment and manage conflicting priorities.

Required skills

• Knowledge of English and Arabic.
