Roving Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Officer

About the role

The Roving Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer will work across two counties to strengthen mental health services within Mobile Medical Units. The role focuses on building clinical capacity, ensuring quality mental health consultations, and maintaining continuity of care through structured follow‑up and case management.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to clinical officers for mental health consultations aligned with mhGAP and national guidelines.
• Deliver on‑the‑job training, mentorship, and supportive supervision to field staff on MHPSS services.
• Review complex mental health cases and guide appropriate case management and referrals.
• Assist with diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow‑up care for patients.
• Conduct weekly performance review meetings with clinical officers.
• Ensure accurate documentation and reporting of mental health activities.
• Strengthen referral pathways between communities, MMUs, and higher‑level health facilities.
• Coordinate follow‑up of mental health patients with community health workers and outreach teams.

Required profile

• Experience in mental health and psychosocial support within humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Familiarity with mhGAP and national mental health guidelines.
• Proven ability to train, mentor, and supervise clinical staff.
• Strong case‑management and referral coordination skills.
