Protection From Violence Officer - Uror

About the role

NRC South Sudan is recruiting two Protection Officers for its Uror project (SSFM2644). The posts report to the Protection Coordinator and involve monitoring and mitigating risks, implementing and managing protection, Community Feedback Mechanisms (CFM) and Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) activities, and safeguarding. The contract lasts 5 months and involves about 70% travel.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and mitigate risks, and lead the monitoring of safeguarding policies and standards across education projects
• Develop and operate the Complaints and Feedback Mechanism: receive complaints and feedback, log them in the database and follow up each case per SOPs
• Plan and run community engagement, sensitisation, information dissemination and awareness-raising activities
• Map available services locally and identify protection concerns and potential hot spots, reporting incidents to the Protection Coordinator
• Follow up safeguarding cases, train staff on SIP/Protection mainstreaming and safeguarding, and support training of community members and stakeholders
• Promote the rights of refugees and displaced people and contribute to safe and inclusive programming

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Social Sciences or a related field
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in protection programming in a displacement settlement, including with host communities, IDPs and returnees in remote environments
• 1-3 years of experience with protection activities and programming
• Some knowledge of English

• Experience with community engagement, consultations and participatory assessments is an advantage
