About the role
The Humanitarian Mine Action (HMA) Specialist – Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of risk‑education activities in South Sudan. Working under the DRC Mine Action Programme, the specialist ensures that communities receive safe, high‑quality education on explosive hazards in line with international and national standards.
Key responsibilities
- Initiate, plan and coordinate EORE activities in targeted communities in consultation with programme managers.
- Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly work plans and produce accurate progress reports.
- Support concept note, proposal and budget development for EORE programmes.
- Conduct needs assessments, baseline surveys and field data collection to inform programming.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship and quality‑assurance visits to EORE teams.
- Maintain records of team activities, outputs and progress.
- Ensure teams have required materials, equipment and IEC resources.
- Deliver induction, refresher and capacity‑building training for operators and stakeholders.
- Assist in reviewing and updating SOPs, training packages, IEC materials and quality‑management tools.
Required profile
- Results‑oriented professional committed to humanitarian principles and operational excellence.
- Experience in planning, implementing and monitoring EORE or similar risk‑education programmes.
- Familiarity with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), South Sudan National Technical Standards and Guidelines, and donor requirements.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in complex, challenging environments.
- Strong coordination and partnership‑development skills with authorities, communities and other mine‑action actors.
Required skills
- Knowledge of International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).
- Understanding of South Sudan National Technical Standards and Guidelines (NTSGs).
