Gender in Education Policy Development Consultant

About the role

WUSC is seeking an independent consultant to lead the development of a gender‑responsive education policy for South Sudan. The consultant will work closely with the Ministry of General Education and Instructions (MoGEI) and key partners to ensure that policies promote equitable access and quality education for adolescent girls and female youth.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive gender analysis of the education sector.
• Engage stakeholders—including government officials, NGOs, and community groups—to gather inputs and build consensus.
• Draft, review, and finalize a Gender in Education Policy aligned with national priorities and the SCALE project objectives.
• Provide evidence‑based recommendations to strengthen gender‑responsive teaching, learning, and school environments.
• Support monitoring and evaluation frameworks to track policy implementation and impact.

Required profile

• Proven experience in gender and education policy development, preferably in conflict‑affected contexts.
• Familiarity with South Sudan’s education system and Ministry of General Education structures.
• Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a one‑year renewable contract.
• Fluent English; knowledge of local languages is an asset.
