Health Officer

About the role

The Health Officer will lead the delivery of primary health‑care services in the assigned county, supporting program development, implementation and monitoring to improve maternal and child health outcomes and immunisation coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Support proposal development and programme expansion, including routine assessments and health trend monitoring.
• Engage with NGOs and UN agencies to leverage resources and facilitate donor visits and ad‑hoc requests.
• Lead implementation of Primary Health Care services, improve maternal and child health indicators and ensure EPI outreach activities.
• Supervise health facilities, conduct weekly, monthly and quarterly supervisory visits, and perform quality‑of‑care assessments.
• Maintain relationships with county authorities, coordinate with project managers and CHD staff, and represent the project in coordination meetings.
• Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports, including incident reporting and success stories.
• Manage health‑facility staff performance, recruitment, payroll support and staff development plans.
• Monitor project assets, ensure proper tagging and compliance with organisational policies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in primary health‑care service delivery and programme management.
• Experience in maternal and child health programmes and immunisation (EPI) activities.
• Demonstrated ability to work with NGOs, UN organisations and donor partners.
• Strong supervisory and capacity‑building skills for health‑facility staff.
• Ability to produce timely reports and manage project assets.
