Health and Nutrition Technical Lead

About the role

Samaritans Purse is looking for a Health and Nutrition Technical Lead to join its International Projects team in Juba, South Sudan. The role supports the organization’s mission to serve communities in the name of Jesus Christ while delivering high‑impact health and nutrition interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead multisector health and nutrition assessments with technical leads and partners, documenting findings to shape program design and implementation.
• Develop response plans, budgets and fundraising tools (concept notes, proposals, donor reports) that align with South Sudan’s strategy and international humanitarian standards.
• Create technical standards, training materials, SOPs and emergency response plans; assist program managers with detailed implementation, procurement and MEAL plans.
• Oversee timely, high‑quality delivery of activities, ensuring sound procurement, supply‑chain oversight and value‑for‑money management of medicines and nutrition supplies.
• Drive learning and accountability by assessing team capacity, coaching staff, documenting lessons and best practices, and integrating feedback through inter‑agency coordination forums.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in public health, health science, nutrition or related field with at least five years of international experience in East/Central Africa (or equivalent).
• Master’s degree in Public Health with a medicine background and minimum three years as a technical advisor (highly preferred).
• Experience managing and building capacity of national staff in NGO programming.
• Thorough knowledge of health and nutrition program development and participatory community engagement methods.
• Comprehensive understanding of monitoring & evaluation systems for large, complex programmes.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to challenging environments.
