Education Specialist Cluster Coordinator (Temporary, 4 months)

About the role

The Education Specialist Cluster Coordinator will lead UNICEF and Save the Children’s co‑leadership of the Education Cluster in South Sudan. This four‑month temporary position supports the Ministry of General Education and Instruction in coordinating humanitarian education preparedness and response at national and sub‑national levels.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the Education Cluster to ensure effective inter‑agency collaboration and alignment with national education priorities.
• Support strategic planning, advocacy, and the development of evidence‑based prioritisation for education interventions.
• Strengthen linkages between humanitarian and sectoral education coordination mechanisms.
• Ensure education needs remain visible in broader humanitarian decision‑making and financing discussions.
• Facilitate emergency preparedness, response, and monitoring of education programmes.

Required profile

• Proven experience in education in emergencies and humanitarian coordination.
• Strong understanding of UN and NGO education frameworks and the South Sudan education context.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government, UN agencies, NGOs, and donors.
• Leadership and communication skills appropriate for a P‑3 level professional.
