Durable Solutions Consultant

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Consultant to lead the development and implementation of durable solutions for internally displaced persons in South Sudan. The role supports IOM’s humanitarian, peacebuilding and development programmes, working closely with UN partners, government agencies and NGOs.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the durable solutions working group within the UN Country Team and Humanitarian Country Team.
• Develop strategies and action plans for internal displacement, including housing, land and property issues.
• Provide technical guidance on climate‑change adaptation and nexus approaches.
• Support the design and monitoring of programmes on transition, recovery and community‑based violence reduction.
• Contribute to the Displacement Tracking Matrix and other data‑collection tools.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in international development, humanitarian affairs, law or a related field.
• Extensive experience working on internal displacement, durable solutions or migration management in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven ability to work with multi‑stakeholder groups, including UN agencies, NGOs and government bodies.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of humanitarian coordination mechanisms (e.g., CCCM, Shelter & NFI clusters).
• Understanding of land, property and housing issues in displacement contexts.
• Experience with climate‑change adaptation frameworks.
