Chief of Party – Roving Response Program

About the role

The Chief of Party will lead Samaritans Purse’s Roving Response Program in South Sudan, overseeing a multi‑sectoral humanitarian effort that integrates health, nutrition, WASH, food security, livelihoods and protection. The role combines strategic leadership, field oversight, and partnership building to deliver life‑saving assistance in a fragile, conflict‑affected environment.

Key responsibilities

• Direct and manage a multi‑sectoral program within approved budgets and timelines.
• Ensure all activities comply with Samaritans Purse standards, donor regulations, and international humanitarian guidelines.
• Prepare and submit accurate financial and program reports to donors and headquarters.
• Coordinate with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and local partners to align objectives and maximize impact.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, support staff, and address operational challenges.
• Supervise 5‑10 non‑supervisory staff and 2 supervisory staff, handling recruitment, performance appraisal, and disciplinary actions.
• Develop contingency plans, pre‑positioning strategies and early warning systems for flood‑prone and conflict‑affected areas.

Required profile

• Strong personal commitment to the Christian faith and ability to serve as a witness.
• Deep understanding of cultural, ethnic and social dynamics influencing program acceptance in South Sudan.
• Extensive experience managing remote field operations in conflict‑affected, logistically constrained settings.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑sectoral emergency response programs.
