Chief Field Officer – UNICEF South Sudan (Wau)

About the role

The Chief Field Officer (CFO) leads UNICEF’s field office in Wau, South Sudan, overseeing the full programme commitment and representing UNICEF in the assigned area of responsibility. This senior position ensures that programme results align with UNICEF’s strategic vision and humanitarian principles.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and lead the total programme commitment of the field office, ensuring quality results.
• Represent UNICEF in the Area of Responsibility, coordinating with national authorities, partners and communities.
• Oversee programme sectors and operational service teams, including knowledge management, programme development, monitoring and evaluation.
• Ensure rights‑based and results‑based programme management, capacity building and sustainability.
• Lead advocacy at national, community and family levels and foster partnership, coordination and collaboration.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in social sciences, international relations, public administration, public policy, sociology, community development or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in programme management, planning, monitoring and evaluation, or project administration within humanitarian and development settings.
• Strong leadership, partnership building, advocacy and communication abilities.
• Proven experience in humanitarian coordination and results‑based management.
