Chief Child Protection (P-5) – Fixed Term – Juba

About the role

The Chief, Child Protection leads UNICEF's child protection and gender‑based violence (GBV) programmes in South Sudan. Reporting to the Representative or Deputy Representative, the role combines strategic planning, programme management and advocacy to create a protective environment for children and women.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Child Protection section, ensuring delivery of results in line with UNICEF’s strategic plans and RBM approach.
• Develop, plan and implement child protection and GBV programmes, from design through to monitoring and evaluation.
• Provide technical advisory services and support to partners and government stakeholders.
• Advocate for child protection policies, build networks and forge partnerships with NGOs, UN agencies and local authorities.
• Drive innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building initiatives within the programme.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law or a related social science.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience at the international level in child protection, GBV, humanitarian response, programme management, M&E, partnership management, policy advocacy, capacity building, systems strengthening or emergency preparedness.
