Key responsibilities

- Manage the day-to-day running of the JMAT clinic, including workplans, SOPs for patient access, triage, consultations, referrals and follow-up, and informed consent and patient safety.
- Oversee medical supplies and equipment, including stock, expiry, cold-chain arrangements and maintenance.
- Maintain infection prevention and control, safe clinical-waste disposal and clinic hygiene, and review clinical incidents and quality concerns.
- Keep accurate, confidential medical records and share anonymised service and health-trend reports.
- Supervise the local doctor and nurses, set duties and rosters, and provide mentoring and continuing professional development.
- Provide medical services for staff on official travel, including immunization, prophylactic medications and travel medical kits.
- Identify health hazards, ensure compliance with UN medical protocols (WHO vaccines, HIV/AIDS, PEP kits, IFAK training) and support third-party medical provider agreements.
- Perform and assess medical examinations and clearances for recruitment, periodic checks and mission briefings, and liaise with local facilities to set up a referral list and monitor major medical bills.
- Monitor sick leave and support medical and casualty response, outbreak support, and hygiene and safety training.
Required profile
- Experience in family practice, public health, occupational health and emergency medicine, with clinical management skills.
- A proactive public health and community health approach, using available resources and coordinating with UN and local medical services.
- Ability to provide expert advice on staff health and safety in a setting with scarce health-care services.
Reporting lines
- Directly supervised by the Deputy Country Director, Enabling Services.
- Functionally supervised by the Regional Medical Officer.
WFP offers an attractive compensation package, training, accreditation, coaching and mentorship, and internal mobility opportunities. Applications close on 11 November 2026.
