Country Director – South Sudan

About the role

The Country Director will provide overall strategic direction and operational leadership for NRC’s humanitarian programmes in South Sudan, ensuring relevance, impact and adherence to humanitarian principles. The role involves high‑level representation, advocacy and coordination with government, donors, UN agencies and local partners.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction and overall leadership for NRC’s operations in South Sudan.
• Lead the Country Management Group and represent NRC in inter‑agency coordination and advocacy forums.
• Analyse the political and humanitarian context and adapt programmes to ensure relevance and impact.
• Drive resource mobilisation, fundraising and partnership development.
• Ensure high standards of ethics, safeguarding and humanitarian principles across all activities.

Required profile

• Minimum seven years of managerial experience, including at least five years as a senior manager or country director in humanitarian or recovery settings.
• Proven experience working in complex, volatile or protracted displacement contexts.
• Demonstrated ability to lead diverse, multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
