Laboratory and Diagnostic Officer

About the role

The Laboratory and Diagnostic Officer provides technical support for laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostic activities under the STRIDES South Sudan activity. Working closely with senior technical staff, government partners, and in‑country collaborators, the Officer helps implement day‑to‑day laboratory interventions and contributes to reporting and knowledge sharing.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in technical implementation of laboratory strengthening aligned with national health priorities and the STRIDES workplan.
• Prepare documentation, logistics, and follow‑up materials for meetings with the Ministry of Health and other government counterparts.
• Develop and disseminate laboratory tools, guidelines, training materials, and standard operating procedures.
• Monitor and maintain project protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals, and reports.
• Conduct literature searches on emerging laboratory and diagnostic issues.
• Support quality control and quality assurance for laboratory outputs.
• Help prepare workplans, track progress against timelines, and contribute to client and funder reports.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in laboratory operations, diagnostics, or public health.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies and international partners.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
