Country Director – Humanitarian Programme (South Sudan)

About the role

DanChurchAid is looking for a dynamic, visionary Country Director to lead its $16.5 million humanitarian and development programme in South Sudan. Based in Juba with frequent field travel, you will shape strategy, manage risk and ensure high‑impact delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team of 96 national and 12 international staff, fostering a positive work environment.
• Define and drive the strategic direction of the programme, ensuring quality, accountability and innovation.
• Monitor and manage security risks, regularly analysing the security landscape.
• Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners and stakeholders, identifying fundraising opportunities.
• Oversee programme areas including cash transfers, protection, gender equality, peacebuilding, agro‑ecology, economic inclusion and humanitarian mine action.

Required profile

• 5+ years experience in senior leadership (Country Director or equivalent).
• 10+ years managing humanitarian and development programmes in challenging contexts.
• Proven fundraising and donor‑relationship expertise.
• Strong understanding of Triple Nexus, gender mainstreaming, rights‑based programming and Core Humanitarian Standards.
• Experience working with local partners and self‑implemented interventions.
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Fluent English (oral and written).
