Humanitarian Mine Action Officer – Explosive Ordnance Risk Education

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a motivated professional to deliver high‑quality Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) to communities in South Sudan. The role supports safe behaviour, community engagement and integrates with broader Humanitarian Mine Action activities.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct EORE sessions in targeted communities according to the operational plan.
• Collect community data, conduct interviews and carry out impact, KAP and needs assessments.
• Support EOD, BAC, NTS and other HMA teams by delivering EORE before, during or after operational activities.
• Participate in public awareness campaigns and develop IEC materials.
• Report equipment and tool needs, safety incidents and security concerns to the EORE Specialist.
• Accurately complete IMSMA forms for education, accidents and weekly reporting.
• Drive DRC vehicles during operational periods and assist other HMA activities as required.
• Maintain beneficiary registers, activity records and EORE equipment in good condition.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in humanitarian mine action or explosive ordnance risk education.
• Strong commitment to humanitarian principles, operational excellence and quality programming.
• Ability to work effectively with conflict‑affected populations and partner organisations.
• Willingness to work in complex, challenging field environments.

Required skills

• Proficiency with IMSMA reporting tools.
• Development and use of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials for risk education.
