Heavy Vehicle Operator – UNISFA (Wau)

About the role

This position is located in the Movement Control and Distribution Unit of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) at the duty station in Wau. The incumbent reports directly to the Movement Control Assistant or their designate and is responsible for operating heavy vehicles and material handling equipment in support of mission logistics.

Key responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy material handling equipment to transport cargo, passengers and hazardous goods, including sea containers.
• Load and unload sea containers and heavy supplies using forklifts and other heavy equipment.
• Perform basic maintenance, inspections and minor repairs on light, medium and heavy vehicles, including recovery trucks.
• Provide VIP and standby driver duties as required.
• Ensure vehicle documentation, cleaning and washing are up to date.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid national driving/operator licence (category C) with copy required.
• Minimum three years of progressive experience driving heavy vehicles/trucks.
• Experience operating material handling equipment, specifically FX‑Extra heavy forklifts up to 28 tonnes.
• Basic knowledge of vehicle repair and maintenance.
