Data Specialist – UN Development Coordination

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Juba is seeking a Data Specialist to support the implementation of data-driven strategies that enhance statistical efficiency and quality across development, humanitarian and peace initiatives. Reporting to the Development Coordination Officer, you will work closely with internal data engineers, scientists and external UN agencies and NGOs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain databases, data collection systems and analytics pipelines to improve data quality and statistical efficiency.
• Analyze structured and unstructured data, identify trends and patterns using statistical methods, and provide actionable insights.
• Identify and source appropriate data for analytics projects, and propose process improvements for data analysis.
• Create reports, dashboards and visual tools that effectively communicate findings to senior management and stakeholders.
• Document data requirements, methodologies and quality control procedures.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in data management, analysis or related fields within international development or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to interpret complex data sets.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with diverse UN entities, NGOs and technical teams.
