Contract Engineer – Road Construction (Permanent)

About the role

The Contract Engineer will oversee all contractual administration for a major road and highway construction project in South Sudan. You will ensure that contractual obligations, notices, variations, claims, payments and related correspondence are accurately monitored, documented and administered throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and monitor compliance with the road construction contract, reviewing specifications, drawings, BOQ and schedules.
• Maintain contract registers, correspondence, notices, approvals and other contractual records.
• Assess and coordinate variations, working with engineers and quantity surveyors to determine technical and financial impacts.
• Review contractor claims, extensions of time and delay documentation, preparing assessments and recommendations.
• Coordinate payment application reviews, monitor contract value, approved variations and financial exposure.
• Identify contractual risks, prepare status reports and support dispute resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Contract Management or a related field.
• Relevant contract management certification is an advantage.
• Minimum 10 years progressive experience in construction contract administration, with significant road/highway project exposure.
• Proven experience in variations, claims, extensions of time, payment certification, contractual correspondence and final accounts.
• Strong knowledge of construction contract administration and major road project processes.
