WASH Technical Specialist

About the role

The WASH Technical Specialist will lead the design, implementation and monitoring of water, sanitation and hygiene programmes in South Sudan. Working closely with health, nutrition, education and food security teams, the specialist will ensure high‑quality, integrated interventions that respond to both emergency and longer‑term needs.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and update immediate and longer‑term WASH response plans and strategies.
• Provide technical input for concept notes, proposals and fundraising initiatives.
• Support Save the Children teams in designing, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating WASH activities integrated with other sectors.
• Ensure technical quality of programmes and analyse monitoring data to improve design and delivery.
• Strengthen coordination with health, nutrition, education, shelter and food security programmes, especially for hygiene promotion.
• Lead rapid assessments and standard surveys, produce quality reports and support field monitoring.
• Participate in technical review meetings and share progress with field and programme teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience in WASH programme design and implementation in humanitarian contexts.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple sectors and with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills for monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
