WASH Specialist

About the role

The WASH Specialist will lead the design, planning and implementation of water, sanitation and hygiene interventions for humanitarian and emergency operations. Working closely with logistics, procurement and operations teams, you will ensure that WASH supplies are sourced, stored and delivered safely and in line with international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct needs assessments and develop technical specifications, BoQs and work plans for WASH projects.
• Oversee the procurement, quality control, storage and distribution of WASH supplies such as purification units, water treatment chemicals and tanks.
• Provide technical guidance and training to partners and field teams on safe water, sanitation and hygiene practices and the installation and maintenance of WASH infrastructure.
• Draft technical documentation, monitoring frameworks and reports to track project performance.
• Support proposal development, budgeting and ensure compliance with Sphere, WHO and national WASH standards.
• Liaise with clients, humanitarian partners and local authorities to resolve operational challenges and capture lessons learned.

Required profile

• Strong technical expertise in WASH programming within humanitarian or low‑resource settings.
• Proven experience planning, implementing and monitoring WASH projects, including needs assessments and field delivery.
• Ability to coordinate with logistics, procurement and operations teams to align technical and supply‑chain requirements.
• Familiarity with international WASH standards (Sphere, WHO) and their practical application.
