WASH Cluster Co‑coordinator – South Sudan

About the role

The WASH Cluster Co‑coordinator will ensure effective humanitarian coordination of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities across South Sudan. Reporting to NRC, the role works closely with both international and national NGOs to deliver a coherent and strategic response to the crisis.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure the WASH Cluster functions effectively and achieves its coordination objectives.
• Facilitate active involvement of NGO WASH stakeholders in cluster events and decision‑making.
• Bring NGOs’ concerns and priorities to the attention of the WASH co‑lead.
• Reinforce the overall effectiveness of WASH Cluster coordination.
• Provide technical direction, project implementation support and capacity‑building training for staff.
• Liaise with local and national authorities, representing NRC in relevant forums and working groups.
• Promote the rights of IDPs and returnees in line with NRC’s advocacy strategy.
• Identify trends, donor priorities and contribute to funding proposals and budgets.

Required profile

• Compliance with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
• Experience in humanitarian coordination, preferably within the WASH sector.
• Ability to work collaboratively with international and national NGOs.
• Strong understanding of displacement contexts and durable solutions.
• Excellent communication and liaison skills with authorities and partners.
