About the role
The Athletics and Recreation Communications unit at McGill University is seeking enthusiastic Varsity Broadcasters for the 2025‑2026 season. You will provide live play‑by‑play and colour commentary for a variety of varsity sports, including basketball, football, hockey, and volleyball, across an 80‑event streaming schedule.
Key responsibilities
- Write engaging pre‑game introductions and conduct background research.
- Interview players and coaches before and after games.
- Deliver live play‑by‑play commentary alongside a partner.
- Generate story ideas and present on‑camera segments.
- Collaborate with the varsity livestream coordinator to ensure professional production from start to finish.
Required profile
- High school diploma and at least one year of related experience.
- Strong interest and knowledge of a wide range of sports.
- Flexibility to work evenings (5:30 pm‑11:00 pm) and weekends, primarily Thursday‑Sunday.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
Required skills
- Effective verbal and written communication in both French and English.
What we offer
- Part‑time, fixed‑term contract (September 2026 – March 2027).
- Hourly wage of $16.85.
