Senior Education Officer

About the role

The Senior Education Officer will provide senior technical and operational support for the International Rescue Committee’s Education for All in South Sudan (EFASS) project in Aweil South. This role ensures strong field coordination, high‑quality activity delivery, and mentorship for junior education staff while contributing to IRC’s mission of delivering equitable education services to vulnerable children.

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed planning, supervision, and quality assurance of education activities in Aweil South.
• Coordinate day‑to‑day implementation of enrolment, retention, and foundational learning interventions.
• Support teachers and facilitators through coaching, classroom monitoring, and learner assessment.
• Facilitate school‑community engagement and maintain effective partnerships with local authorities and NGOs.
• Oversee data collection, reporting, and compliance with IRC standards and donor requirements.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior education staff.

Required profile

• Proven experience in senior education programming within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Strong ability to plan, supervise, and ensure quality of field‑based education projects.
• Excellent coordination skills and capacity to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Commitment to IRC’s values and mission to serve vulnerable populations.
