Protection Officer – South Sudan (Aweil)

About the role

The Protection Officer will support the implementation of the Protection from Violence (PfV) portfolio in the North Area of South Sudan, based in Aweil. Working under the PfV Team Leader, the officer will deliver both fixed‑site and mobile services, ensuring vulnerable populations receive timely protection assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the delegated PfV project portfolio according to the approved plan of action.
• Provide civilian self‑protection programming and individual response services.
• Conduct protection monitoring, analysis and advocacy in line with Safe and Inclusive Programming principles.
• Prepare and submit status reports, maintain accurate filing and documentation.
• Travel up to 20% of the time to deliver mobile services and support field operations.
• Collaborate with PfV Officers and Assistants, offering technical guidance and capacity development.
• Contribute field data to inform protection risk trend analysis and strategic planning.
• Ensure compliance with NRC policies, code of conduct, confidentiality and humanitarian principles.

Required profile

• Experience working in humanitarian protection programmes, preferably within the PfV framework.
• Ability to travel regularly in challenging environments and work in remote field settings.
• Strong reporting and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
